The MP2953B is a multiphase digital controller designed to power the core of the INTEL VR12.5 platform. It can be used in conjunction with MPS Smart Phase products to achieve a complete multi-phase VR solution with minimal external components. It is configurable for 1 - 6 phase operation.

MP2953B integrates EEPROM inside, which is used to store and restore device configuration. Device configuration and fault parameters are easily programmed or monitored using the PMBus interface. The MP2953B monitors and reports the output current through the CS output of the smart phase product.

Based on a unique multi-phase digital nonlinear control, the MP2953B can provide fast load transient response and minimize the use of output capacitors. It uses only one power loop to control steady state and load transient, so power loop compensation can be easily configured.
