The DAC7760 and DAC8760 are low-cost, high-precision, fully integrated 12-bit and 16-bit analog-to-analog converters (DACs) designed to meet the requirements of industrial process control applications. These devices can be programmed to provide a current output ranging from 4mA to 20mA, 0mA to 20mA, or 0mA to 24mA; or as a voltage output ranging from 0V to 5V, 0V to 10V, ±5V, or ±10V, which can exceed 10% of range (0V to 5.5V, 0V to 11V, ±5.5V, or ±11V). Current and voltage outputs can be enabled simultaneously while being controlled by a single data register.
These devices include a power-on-reset feature to ensure power-up in a known state (IOUT and VOUT disabled and in a high-impedance (Hi-Z) state). The CLR and CLR-SEL pins set the voltage output to zero-scale or mid-scale, and the current output is set to the low end of the scale range when the output is enabled. The zero and gain registers can be programmed to digitally calibrate the device in the end system. The output slew rate is also set by the register. These devices add an external HART® signal to the current output and can be powered from a single 10V to 36V supply or two supplies up to ±18V. All models are available in 6mm × 6mm 40-pin VQFN and 24-pin HTSSOP packages.
