The LM2574xx series of regulators are monolithic integrated circuits that provide all active functions for a step-down switching regulator capable of driving loads up to 0.5A with excellent line and load regulation. These devices are available in 3.3V, 5V, 12V, 15V and adjustable output versions.

Requiring a minimal number of external components, these regulators are simple to use and feature internal frequency compensation and a fixed frequency oscillator.

The LM2574xx family of products provides a high-efficiency alternative to commonly used three-terminal linear regulators. Because of its high efficiency, usually only the copper traces on the printed circuit board (PCB) need to dissipate heat.

Several different manufacturers offer a range of standard inductors optimized for use with the LM2574. This feature greatly simplifies the design of switch-mode power supplies.

Additional features include a ±4% tolerance on the rated output voltage and a ±10% oscillator frequency tolerance over rated input voltage and output load conditions. Features an external shutdown function with a 50µA (typ) standby current. The output switch features cycle-by-cycle current limit and thermal shutdown for full protection under fault conditions.
