Description
The TPS61021A provides a power solution for portable or smart devices powered by alkaline, NiMH, Li-Mn, or Li-ion batteries. The TPS61021A is capable of delivering 3.3V and 1.5A when the battery is discharged to a low voltage of 1.8V. The TPS61021A supports a 0.5-V input voltage, which extends battery run time. The TPS61021A operates at 2MHz switching frequency under heavy load conditions and enters a power save mode at light loads to maintain high efficiency over the entire load current range. The device draws only 17µA of quiescent current from VOUT at light loads. During shutdown, the load is completely disconnected from the input. In addition, TPS61021A also provides 4.35V output overvoltage protection, output short circuit protection and thermal shutdown protection. The TPS61021A requires a small number of external components, resulting in a very small solution size. The device supports the use of low value inductors or output capacitors at 2MHz switching frequency.
