China's Integrated Circuit Imports Fell for The First Time in Nearly Two Decades!
Recently, data released by the General Administration of Customs of China shows that the import volume of integrated circuits in 2022 will drop by 15% from 635.6 billion in 2021 to 538.4 billion.
In terms of corresponding value, China's integrated circuit imports will drop from US$432.4 billion in 2021 to US$415.6 billion in 2022, a year-on-year decrease of 3.9%.
Bloomberg reported that this was the first annual decline since Bloomberg began tracking the data in 2004. China's integrated circuit imports will increase by 17% in 2021, 22% in 2020, and 6.6% in 2019.
The industry pointed out that integrated circuits are the cornerstone of the information technology industry. In recent years, thanks to good policy promotion and huge market demand, China's integrated circuit industry has continued to grow. However, due to the late start of the domestic integrated circuit industry, some high-end chips and core technologies still rely on foreign imports, and domestic substitution of integrated circuits still needs continuous efforts.
Integrated circuits are the core hub of the modern industrial system, which is related to national security and the process of Chinese-style modernization. At present, my country has formed a relatively complete integrated circuit industry chain, and a number of outstanding enterprises and entrepreneurs have emerged, and they have formed strong capabilities locally.
According to Xinhua News Agency, on March 2, Liu He, Vice Premier of the State Council, investigated the development of integrated circuit companies in Beijing and presided over a symposium. It is a strategic advantage to promote the development of the integrated circuit industry.
Regarding the future development of the integrated circuit industry, Liu He pointed out that the development of the integrated circuit industry must take advantage of the new national system and make good use of both government and market forces.
Liu He further emphasized that the government should formulate integrated circuit industry policies in line with national conditions and new situations, set pragmatic development goals and development ideas, help enterprises coordinate and solve difficulties, play a good organizational role in areas where market failures occur, and guide long-term investment. Give equal preferential policies to domestic talents, give real national treatment to foreign experts, and help enterprises to speed up the introduction and training of talents.
At the same time, we must attach great importance to the important role of market forces and industrial ecology, establish a research mechanism with enterprises as the main body, and rely on entrepreneurs to achieve the healthy development of the integrated circuit industry. Leading talents with abilities, and give them full play space. We must always adhere to international cooperation, make friends, expand opening up, and firmly maintain the stability of the global industrial and supply chains.
