The United States earlier upgraded its export control measures to China, imposing new export restrictions on advanced process semiconductors and chip manufacturing equipment.

On October 11, Intel released a tweet, obtaining a one-year authorization from the U.S. Department of Commerce to continue operating its NAND flash memory chip business currently located in Dalian, China.

In addition, Nikkei Asia reported on Thursday that TSMC has also obtained a one-year license to continue ordering US chip manufacturing equipment to expand in China. The Nikkei report quoted people familiar with the matter as saying that the US government assured TSMC that it would be able to deliver these equipment to a manufacturing plant in Nanjing, China.

Prior to this, SK Hynix and Samsung of South Korea also obtained the authorization to continue operating chip factories in China for one year.

The Yonhap News Agency quoted several sources as saying that the US Department of Commerce recently reported to Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix in South Korea that the two Korean factories in China could still import relevant equipment from the United States within one year without the approval of the US government, which means that the production of the two Korean enterprises in China will not be blocked in the next year.

SK Hynix stated that it has obtained the permission of the United States to supply the equipment needed for developing and producing DRAM semiconductors to factories in China within one year without applying for additional permission, which means that the company can continue to supply memory chips to the world steadily.

Samsung and SK Hynix are in the process of transformation and upgrading in the Huagong Plant, and many types of equipment need to be imported. A source pointed out that the United States may not allow Korean enterprises to import relevant equipment from the United States indefinitely, but only grant exemption during the transformation and upgrading of Samsung and SK Hynix factories in China.
